Historical Background |
Sister Mary Milligan, R.S.H.M., had served as faculty at Marymount College, Loyola University of Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University, and at St. John's Seminary, Camarillo. She taught French, Theology and Sacred Scriptures. In 1986, Sister Miligan, former General Superior of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, became Provost of Loyola Marymount University. She later served as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. As a prominent Catholic educator in Los Angeles, Sister Miligan was selected by the Vatican as one of three U.S. experts to assist in the 1987 October proceedings of the Synod of Bishops in Rome. |
