Historical Background |
Reverend Francis Xavier Farmer was born Wilmouth Alexander Farmer in Conyers, Georgia. In 1915, he joined the Catholic Church in United States, and became a Jesuit taking the name Francis Xavier. He had served as a missionary for the Methodist Church in China. Father Farmer lived on the Loyola University of Los Angeles campus from 1949 until a few months before he passed away in 1970. As a retired priest, Father Farmer served as spiritual advisor for members of the Jesuit Community at Loyola University. |
